Spring 1961

An IC train is seen arriving at St. Louis Union Station.

Here we see a couple passenger trains on the west side of Union Station, a Missouri Pacific and a Wabash.

May 1, 1965

I shot these locos heading to Union Station for trains scheduled to leave later in the monring.

The south bound "Sunnyland" is seen just south of SE Jct.

The"Texas Eagle" is seen leaving Union Station.

The westbound "Southwestern Limited" is seen at Mitchell, IL.

May 2, 1965

The power for the May 2, 1965 Meteor is seen backing into Union Station in St. Louis.

The "Texas Eagle" is seen preparing to leave Union Station. Note that the Gateway Arch is incomplete.

Back in St. Louis, I get this shot of former Wabash power from the 21st St. bridge over the tracks.

May 1, 1966

This E7 was shot from the 21st Street bridge over the approaches to St. Louis Union Station.

This string of E-units is just west of the 21st Street bridge at the west end of St. Louis Union Station. In the distance is the MP coach yard.

This exWabash unit is seen from the 21st St. bridge

Another consist of ex-Wabash units as seen from the 21st Street bridge over the tracks.

The "City of St. Louis" is seen pulling out of Union Station and then heading west past the coach yard.

This consist of units is a mixture of Wabash and N&W units is seen from the 21st Street bridge over the tracks.

The combined "Wabash Cannon Ball - Banner Blue" is seen arriving from the 21st Street bridge over the tracks.

July 15, 1966

This E-7 is preparing to back into St. Louis Union Station. The shot was taken from the 21st Street bridge over the tracks.

This train is arriving at Union Station.

August 29, 1966

This L&N train is seen from the 18th St. bridge over the tracks as it arrives and then backs into Union Station.

These units are seen on the west side of Union Station.

The "City of St. Louis" sits in Union Station.

December 16, 1966

The "City of St. Louis" is seen approaching and then passing Union Station.

December 15, 1967

The "Missouri River Eagle" is seen stopped at the station in Kirkwood, MO.

After shooting the "Missouri River Eagle" in Kirkwood, we headed to Union Station where I shot this connection for a mainline Illinois Central train.

GM&O #101A ia seen in their engine terminal area on the west side of Union Station.

December 16, 1967

These engines are in the engine terminal for GM&O on the west side of Union Station.

These units are then seen backing down on to their train in the GM&O coach yard on the west side of Union Station.

These GM&O units are seen heading for the Union Station train shed in this early morning shot.

The next morning this E6 was sitting outside at St. Louis Union Statio.
This unit was coupled to the 4003 of the previous image. Note the GM&O units in the background.
Later in the day it is seen leading a train heading for a connection with the mainline.

A N&W train is seen pulling out of Union Station.

By Dec. 1967, passenger service on the New York Central out of St. Louis had decended to a single car train to the eastern Illinois border. Service across Indiana had been discontinued. Here we see the train departing Union Staation.

The "Missouri River Eagle" is seen leaving Union Station.

The "City of Kansas CIty" is seen leaving Union Station.

The Council Bluffs Mixed is then seen leaving Union Station.

The "Abe Lincoln" is seen backing into Union Station.

The IC "Green Diamond" is seen arriving and then backing into Union Station.

These E-units are arriving at St. Louis Union Station with the "Penn Texas".

This westbound train has just cut loose a string of Flexa-Vans in the yard across from St. Louis Union Station.

This train is seen leaving St. Louis Union Station.

The "Council Bluffs" mixed is seen leaving the train shed.

These E-units are leaving St. Louis Union Station.

The mail train is seen leaving Union Station and adding an coach in the coach yard.

These units are seen across from Union Station prparing to power the "City of St. Louis" out of town.
The power is then parked where Wabash, and now N&W, power awaits assignments.
The "City of St. Louis" is then seen leaving Union Station.

The "Penn Texas" is seen arriving at St. Louis Union Station, note the completed Gateway Arch.

The "City of Kansas City" is seen arriving at the same time as the PRR passenger seen in the previous image.

December 17, 1967

The "Alton Limited" is seen leaving Union Station.

May 1, 1968

These Penn Central units are seen from the 18th St. bridge over the tracks.

This IC connecting train is heading for the mainline in central Illinois.

The Wabash "Detroit Limited" is seen heading out eastbound from Union Station.

A E-8 in N&W colors is seen on the track where Wabash and N&W power is stored.

The "Abe Lincoln Limited" is seenn backing into its track outside of the main train shed.

July 14, 1968

The combined "Georgian-Humingbird" are seen leaving St. Louis Union Station.

The "Abe Lincoln Limited" is seen leaving Union Station.

March 15, 1969

The "Wabash Cannon Ball" is seen arriving at Union Station as seen from the 21st Street bridge over the tracks. It is then seen backing into the station.

April 21, 1970

The "Alton Limited" is seen on the east side approach to Merchants Bridge in Venice, IL.

May 30, 1970

The "Midnight Limited" is seen in Union Station preparing to leave for Chicago.

May 31, 1970

How do you take a picture in a dark environment if you do not have your tripot with you? You set the camera on the station platform, align as best you can, and pray for a good shot. This is the "Panama Ltd" connection.

The "Wasbash Cannon Ball" is seen pulling out from under the train shed.

June 21, 1970

The "Texas Eagle" is seen arriving in St. Louis. It is preparing to back into the terminal.

The "Midnight" is seen arriving and passing Union Station.

October 1970

This GM&O passenger train is seen in Granite City, IL on its way to Union Station.

The northbound "Alton Limited" is seen in Granite City, IL shortly after the southbound seen in the previous sequence.
