MP Heritage UP 1982

On June 15 in Rochelle, IL I had shot what has been reported as the soon to be MP Heritage unit.

The previous day I had shot two more of these "undecorated" SD70ACes on a westbound freight.

After hearing a report that UP 1982, MP Heritage unit, was expected in Marion during the night of January 20, 2008, I headed to the intermodal facility west of Marion at first light.

It was discovered at the east end of the intermodal yard on 1/21/08.

Returning to the east end, I discovered a road that got me closer than US 64. In the meantime, an eastbound stack train had arrived with a "patched" former C&NW unit in the lead.

I then repositioned at State 141 for a view of the "westbound" heading east to Prestley Jct. where it will head south down the former Frisco branch to West Memphis and the former Rock Island and Cotton Belt line west, 1/21/08.

I now repositioned again, this time on the north service road of I40-I55 in West Memphis. The stack train is now on the former Frisco West Memphis branch heading south.
