On July 7, 2007, I made a railfanning trip to northern Illinois. I started with a stop at the Illinois Railway Museum. |

On my way to Rochelle, I ran across this ICE train in a siding at Genoa, IL with a DME unit on the point. |

I reached the UP, former C&NW mainline, in De Kalb, IL and caught this westbound running through downtown. |

Between Malta and Creston, I discover that the normal eastbound track has been rebuilt with new CWR and concrete cross ties. |

This westbound is seen leaving Malta on a down grade in this rolling countryside before taking an ascending grade into Creston. |

This empty coal train sits on the downgrade just west of Creston. |

This eastbound BNSF stack train has 3 lease units in the consist. as it passes through Rochelle. |

This BNSF consist is preparing to work the local tank farm in Rochelle. |
