The Fennimore Railroad Historical Society has created quite a nice outdoor display. There is even a minature train to ride in the summer. The loco is not original to this line. |

The purpose of this trip was so that Jan could see the Mississippi River. She had been in "cold turkey" withdrawn. So we drove across the bridge to Marquette, IA where we discovered this Welcome Center. |
We also discovered this power from a train along the "river line". |
While we took a drive along the river, a train came in from the west using this power. |
Upon returning to Prairie du Chien, we discovered another eastbound stack train roaring through town near the former Burlington station. |

Later in the morning, we stopped at the Martinsburg, WV station, reported to be the oldest station in continuous use, built 1847. Across the tracks is a real "roundhouse", much like the one at the B&O museum in Baltimore. |
The top image, shot through the window of the Sightseer Loung car, is of a Virginia Railway Express commuter train sitting in the their Ivy City yard awaiting their next departure. As we approached Union Station, I shot this MARC train through the window of our sleeper. |

The view shows an Acela train on the upper level on the west end of Union Station while a single unit and the Capitol Limited that we just arrived on lower level trains on the right side of the image. |
After boarding Train 29, "The Capitol Limited", I stepped out side to shoot these images of an Acela Express train sitting on a track nearby, note the Business Class versus First Class cars and their logos. |
I soon noticed a headlight of an approaching train on the near track, another Acela Express |
