55 Years of Railroad Photography |
For my birthday lunch, we drove to the IHOP in Muskogee. After lunch we headed to the site of the former MKT station in downtown Muskogee. After about 20 minutes we headed to the crossing of MLK Blvd and the UP engine terminal area. I first shot these two units outside of the UP yard office. |
These units were putting together a freight in the former MKT yard. |
After my talk in Tulsa, I got shots of the SD70ACe DPU on this empty unit coal train in Wagoner, OK from the one time ROW of the KO&G. |
In an attempt to get a signal to leave the main and head down the river front line in West Tulsa, these units backed down to get a signal and the switch. |
The next movement was the eastbound Long Beach to Memphis intermodal train at the wye. |
A pair of trimmer engines is seen heading around a leg of the wye. |
The next move was the UP freight from Muskogee heading east out of the yard on its return trip. |
These trimmer units pulled a string out the leg of the wye to the Avard Sub. |
These units came into the yard from the east. The CITRAIL unit is a ES44AC. |
The trimmer makes another trip out the Avard Sub wye. |
These units pulled up to the north end of the receiving yard and stopped to change crews. |
The next train was the westbound Memphis to Long Beach intermodal train. |
The trailing unit was one of the Tier 4 compliant GE ET44C4s. |
This unit covered hopper train finally got permission to leave Cherokee Yard. |
These were the DPUs on the unit covered hopper train. |
The trimmer set is seen this time with a long string of tank cars. |
We next found this west bound entering Cherokee Yard. |
This switcher set followed that freight. |
The switchers dropped their cars in the yard and came back to the north end of the yard. |
The power for the last freight is seen after the train was dropped in the yard. |
We next see the eastbound Long Beach to Memphis intermodal. |
The last train I saw was this westbound. |
as I left a doctor's appointment, I heard a train blowing for a crossing. I headed toward the track and caught the train at their crossing of 51st Street in Tulsa, under the US 169 overpass. The train was the UP returning toward Muskogee on the former MKT line. |
On our way back to Tahlequah, I spotted a headlight when we crossed the former MP line near the Cookson siding, C.P.A.581, at the eastern side of Wagoner. |
As I arrived at Stilwell, an empty unit coal was heading north. I shot the DPU at the rear of the train. |
I then headed to the KCS station for the Centennial Celebration. About a month before this event, a truck out of control destroyed the previous sign. |
This KCS motor car is inside the museum. |
This hi-railer truck passed the station while I awaited the program to start. |
The next action outside was a southbound freight led by a SD70ACe which was built in Mexico.. |
I got this shot while waiting for an empty unit coal train. |
The empty unit coal train finally appeared led by a GE ES44AC. |
The people are shown as they began to arrive for the Centennial Celebration sponsored by the Adair County Historical & Genealogical Association, here after referred as ACH&GA. |
The following people were involved in the program. |
Wanda Elliott President of ACH&GA |
Luke Williams Director of ACH&GA |
Susie Thompson Director of ACH&GA |
Johnathan-Buxton KCS Trainmaster |
The keynote speaker was Bill Bailey from the KCS Historical Society and a Stilwell native. |
Retired KCS engineer John "Sarge" Locke spoke abput his experiences. |
On my way to the NRHS Boston Mtn Chapter meeting in Springdale, AR, I caught the rear end of a southbound KCS train from the former office of the Siloam Springs, AR station. |
In Springdale, AR I found this ALCo switcher outside of the A&M new back shop. |
These A&M units, 4 ALCo C420s and 3 SD70ACes, were on the ready track on the west side of the back shop. |
I caught this west bound train west of East Parkway in Memphis. |
Friends, on Friday Oct 23, I will undergo left knee replacement surgery. I will get my 3rd left artifical knee, replacing a artificial knee installed in Dec 1992. Sometime in the future I will have the right artificial joint replaced. The right knee was intalled in July 1991. Due to my healing, there will not be another issue of Recent Trains for a couple of months. |
