54 Years of Railroad Photography |
On our way to Tulsa to visit the zoo with our grandson, we found that the signal for the connection from the MKT UP line to the MP UP line was lined for the connection. We headed to the former site of the MP station for the following shots. |
The Tulsa Zoo is encircled by a minature railroad. |
After exploring the zoo, we headed to the train station and took a ride around the Zoo. |
After the Zoo visit, we headed to 18th Street in Tulsa and the former Midland Valley right of way. |
After touring the Ft Smith National Historical Site, we headed to the Ft Smith Trolley Museum where we found this motor car being used for rides. |
We then headed to Van Buren and found that the A&M Winslow turn was just returning. |
On our way to Memphis to return our grandson to his parents, we found this action in Stilwell, OK. |
While we were stopped at the Bald Knob, AR station, we were told that an empty unit coal train was headed toward the main line. |
We took US412 from NW TN all the way back to OK to see some new scenery. The Missouri & Northern Arkansas (MNA) swing bridge over the White River at Cotter, AR is seen from the scenic overlook on US 412. This is part of the former Missouri Pacific White River Division. |
This MNA SD40-T2 is seen sitting across from the station in Cotter, AR |
This SD40 was sitting on the back track opposite the MNA station in Cotter, AR. |
I missed the first train that passed Urban in Tulsa after my arrival. It had as the second unit NS S&A heritage unit. I was on the cell phone with the American Chemical Society. This was the next train, another westbound general merchandize. |
The next activity was this hi-railer. |
The next train was this BNSF stack train. |
Next was another BNSF stack train. |
There were a couple of containers which had this label on them in this train. |
My last train for the day was this switcher making a delivery to the interchange with the UP at Union Depot. |
Lining the switch. |
Pulling into the interchange. |
Shoving into the interchange. |
Lining the switch back to the main after dropping the boxcars. |
Heading east for more switching. |
Upon arriving near Urban in downtown Tulsa, I discovered this train on the SKOL in the yard north of Brady Ave. |
Upon returning to the BNSF mainline at the Greenwood Ave crossing, I discovered a switcher working the UP interchange yard at Union Depot. |
The switchers are next seen from the other side of the tracks. |
This eastbound empty unit coal train is seen passing Urban. |
The next train was this eastbound general freight at Urban. |
Was was surprized to discover that the SKOL train was still sitting on their mainline. |
I also discovered this unit sitting in their Tulsa yard. |
I then drove to the interchange between the Sand Springs Railroad and the BNSF at the west end of downtown near the BOK Center. The Sand Springs tracks are on the right and head west to toward Sand Springs. This once was an interurban. |
This eastbound freight appeared shortly thereafter stretching across the Arkansas River bridge in the distance. |
The train pulled up to the Guthrie Ave crossing and paused for several minutes before moving east. |
I then headed to the Librarium at 11th and Denver to pick up Jan. On our return to the area, a train was backing toward the yard so I headed to the Guthrie Ave crossing area for these shots. |
