54 Years of Railroad Photography |
This grain train was southbound through Westville, OK with 2 units on the point and an NS unit at DPU. |
This A&M C420 is seen at the fuel rack along side of the new backshop building in Springdale, AR. |
My first action in Springdale was the "Monett Turn" returning as seen from the Huntsville Road crossing north of the shops area. |
This last shot of the Monet Turn shows it heading south past the "coach yard" south of the Springdale station. |
My last A&M action was the switcher working the yard north of Randle Wobbe Lane. |
I spent an hour at Urban to not see any trains! This is the junction east of Union Depot on the BNSF where the UP (former MKT) and SK&O (former ATSF). |
My first train at Cherokee Yard was this westbound intermodal. The cantilevered signal bridges seen here are for signals governing the tracks leading to and from the Avard Sub. |
The trailing unit of the consist is one of the new units, a ES44C4, which has only 4 traction motor instead of 6. The extra air cylinders on the trucks are used to raise an axle off the rail at higher speeds. This model of GE locomotive was covered in detail in the May 2013 issue of Trains, pg 16. |
Note the block of FedEx containers and trailers on the rear of this intermodal followed by a long string of empty pig flats. |
The next train was another intermodal heading for the Avard Sub. |
The next action was this trimmer set working a string of cars in the bowl. |
While I was gone to get a Diet DP, the UP backed off the line from Jenks and waited for a signal on Main 2, the caboose/shoving platform, was parked near where I park for the Tulsa Hot Spot. He the train started heading for Urban, I gave chase. |
I caught the train first at the Guthrie Ave crossing near the BOK Center. |
I next caught the train sitting under the Detroit Street overpass where it had stopped to enter its own tracks to Muskogee and to pick up more cars on the tracks along side of Union Depot. |
The powere is seen entering the UP track to Muskogee to pick up a cut of cars on the tracks by Union Depot. |
The power is then seen pulling the first string of cars from the interchange before coupling to the second cut and then coupling to the rest of its train. |
Back at the Hot Spot, I caught this trimmer set again. |
Another trimmer set heads out the lead to the Avard Sub. |
The next train was an eastbound intermodal off the Avard Sub. |
This train is seen heading out the Avard Sub from Cherokee Yard. |
This trimmer set is seen working out of Cherokee Yard. |
These units are returning after making a transfer run. |
The same units are then seen working a cut of cars from the bowl of the hump yard. |
This is the power visible from the Tulsa Hot Spot. |
This Trans Global Solutions SW1500 is seen outside the gate of the refinery. |
BNSF 2025 is seen at the north end of the yard with a cut of cars. |
The next train was a loaded unit coal train heading into Cherokee Yard. |
These two trimmer sets await the passage of the unit coal train into the yard. |
The loaded unit coal train is then seen entering the yard. |
On the way back to Tahlequah, we caught this SB UP freight at Wagoner going from the former MKT line to the former MP line. |
This train was stopped on the UP, former MP line, to McGehee, AR and Monroe, LA south of the joint line through town. |
In pouring rain, I caught this NB freight with 7 units just north of the former MP station in downtown Pine Bluff. |
This is the station in downtown Pine Bluff, now the Jefferson County Historical Museum. |
The next train was this SB one led by a CSX unit. |
Another SB is seen near the former Cotton Belt shops in Pine Bluff. |
I then chased the train into downtown Pine Bluff near the station. |
The first train finally got permission to enter the joint line through town. |
The last train that I shot was this SB near the downtown station. |
These 4 CF7s of the Delta Southern are seen parked north of Tallulah, LA. |
Daughter Virginia, grandson Shawn, and I headed to Central Ave to shoot trains. We saw Amtrak's WB Sunset Limited heading up the Huey P Long Bridge over the Mississippi River. |
Virginia is seen helping Shawn shoot the shot below of the train with her smart phone. |
Shawn is seen looking ar the train disappear. |
We then headed to the east end of the Huey P Long Bridge to shoot the BNSF bare table train stopped on the bridge. |
I headed to Central Ave to shoot the NB Amtrak City of New Orleans. First I shot this image of the East Bridge Jct Tower through the forest of utility poles. |
The City of New Orleans is then seen with two Iowa Pacific private cars on the rear. |
The following service was covered in detail on the April 13, 2014 TV show "CBS Sunday Morning", a show that I watch each Sunday. |
Compare the above with this 51 year old shot from a couple of miles north of the above shot. |
I reshot the Delta Southern power again. |
This string of DR boxcars is at the extreme south end of the North Louisiana & Arkansas track at Lake Village, AR. |
We met this UP train somewhere north of Dumas, AR on the former MP line to McGehee. |
