On our way to Shreveport to pick up our grandson, Matt and I passed through Van Buren, AR and found there 2 units switching the yard under the viaduct which once led to the Ft. Smith/Van Buren Free Bridge.

We then headed for I-540 through south Van Buren and discovered these units on an empty unit coal train at the South 28th Street crossing.

On our way to Poteau, OK to get on US 59 south, we were passed by an ambulance on OK 112. When we got close to Poteau, we discovered why, a serious accident. While waiting, we spotted this helicopter circling in preparation to landing to pick up the most seriously injured. We turned around and headed for old OK 112 to bypass the accident.

In Heavener, we found this unit on the north end of a string of brand new covered hoppers. Note the cars on the former baloon loop for the coal flood loader silo.

With Matt driving, we found this unit as we passed through Ashdown, AR.

And this pair of "Retro Belles".

These 2 units are near thee south end of Deramus Yard as seen from an acess road.

Here are some views thru the chain link fences around the shop area of Deramus Yard. In the 1970s I walked freely around and in these shop buildings.

This freight was stopped at the north end of Deramus yard. I then drove to the other side of the yard using the underpass to my right.
I then returned to the first spot and waited a few minutes to see the train leave.

These swtichers were working the south end of Deramus Yard.

This is the switcher for Ashdown, AR

This unit is the DPU for an empty unit coal train and is parked at the site of the former passenger station in Heavener, OK.
