52 Years of Railroad Photography |
On a recent trip to Muskogee, I got a chance to get some last glances at a piece of railroad history, the headquarters building of the Muskogee Roads. After the Muskoge Roads were bought by the T&P/MP, this building was used as an apartment house. |
Another piece of railroad history is this former piggy back ramp of the Frisco railroad behind the former freight house.. |
This power for a loaded unit coal train is seen at the refueling station at South 28th Street in Van Buren, AR. |
I spent some time at Cherokee Yard of the BNSF in Tulsa, OK and shot this power near the 23rd Street overpass. |
My first train was the westbound stack train heading to the Avard Sub. |
The next movement was this pair of units heading out behind the stack train on the Avard Sub to make a delivery. |
Next came this freight heading into the receiving tracks of Cherokee Yard. |
Another freight then enters the receiving tracks with lots of coil cars.. |
This freight came off the wye from the Avard Sub and headed east just as the rear of the last freight into the yard cleared. |
The power from the first train to the receiving tracks is seen heading to the engine terminal. |
A trimmer set of power heads out the west leg of the wye with a cut of car which caused the power heading to the engine terminal to stop and wait. |
BNSF is installing a second track on the north leg of the wye. These machines were leveling the ballast and tamping it. |
Our first trimmer set is now seen working a train in the classification yard. |
This power was sitting at the lead into the engine terminal so I drove down closer for this shot. |
I then moved from West Tulsa to 3rd and Elgin in downtown Tulsa across from the former ATSF passenger station and connection to KC. Let's step back 50+ years in history, a picture taken from the other side of the "Frisco" tracks at this location. |
The first train I get was the transfer returning from Owasso and the Watco yard there. |
This was the first eastbound freight at this new location. |
Another eastbound, this time a stack train. |
The next train is led by a unit with a number 2 more than the Kalmbach "Magic Number". |
My last train of the day was this eastbound stack train. |
Jan had a 7am doctor's appointment in Tulsa. After it was over, I headed for Owasso to see if I could get the WSOR business train. I got stopped by a traffic light in Owasso within sight of the tracks. About the time the light changed, the flashers started with this blocking my path. This was shot through the windshield and the bug splatter. |
Now out the drivers window. |
I then turned the car around and parked for these shots. |
I then drove back and parked near the crossing for these shots. |
I then moved the car back to near the yard where the train was parked. |
