This unit is the rear DPU for a loaded unit coal train sitting at the fueling facility in Heavener, OK. The mid-train DPUs were hidden by tall grass and trees. |
These are the lead units on that unit coal train, parked at the KCS refueling facility in Heavener, OK. |
As we left Hodgen, I spotted a south bound train, so we headed track side at Zoe, arriving just in time. |
Do not recall having ever shot a consist which were all "Retro Belles". |
On our way out of town, we passed over the bridge above this yard in Shreveport, LA. I noticed this train and turned into the yard from US 71. |
In Ashdown, AR, this KCS switcher was at the south end of the yard. |
These WAMX units are dragging a string of cars north for the Kiamichi. |
These lease units were parked along the former Frisco branch in Ashdown, AR. |
This Kiamichi MOW truck is parked between their office and the former Frisco station in Ashdown. |
This is the DPU end of a loaded unit coal train parked in the siding at Page, OK. |
We found another loaded unit coal train heading southbound through the yard and past the office in Heavener, OK. |
Here are the mid-train DPUs. |
And now the rear DPUs. |
This southbound general freight was refueling at the facility at the north end of Heavener. |
This hi-railer was setting onto the track at the refueling facility, headed north. |
This northbound freight with a TFM unit leading is refueling across the road from the first. |
In Howe, OK we discovered 2 AOK locos on the interchange track to the KCS. |
I spotted the north bound freight and hoped to catch it at Shady Point. As you can see, I was not successful. |
On our trip to return Shawn to his mother in Shreveport, we discovered these units on the AOK in Howe, OK. |
We met for lunch in Mena, AR with long time friend Jim Christenberry, here seen with his truck and a picture of a ATSF piggy back. Jim is a retired KCS engineer who now flags on the KCS for construction companies. Among other projects, he has been flagging while new signals and PTC equipment is being installed. |
This SW1500 is in "Retro Belle" in Shreveport, LA. |
This set of units were near the engine terminal in Heavener, OK. |
As we were getting off the I540 Arkansas River bridge in Van Buren, we discovered this A&M switcher returning from the Port of Van Buren toward the UP main line and its own yard. |
We discovered this A&M dome car in the Van Buren yard. Apparently, the A&M had stationed this in Van Buren so that some people from the Visitor's Bureau could see the route of the Winslow turn. |
After loading some stuff at the storage unit in Alma, we headed out I40 to the Muskogee Turna pike and then US 62 at Muskogee. After crossing the Arkansas River, we saw an empty unit coal train leaving the OG&E Muskogee Power Plant and gave chase. Here we see the lead locos passing a couple of remaining Frisco cross-bucks on this branch which was constructed as part of the Ozark & Cherokee Central, later Frisco Muskogee Branch, which ran from Fayetteville, AR to Okmulgee, OK. The O&CC once passed through my current home town of Tahlequah, OK before being cut back to Ft. Gibson Dam to Okmulgee in 1942 and then this branch abandoned in late 1960s. |
On my way to the NRHS meeting in Springdale, I decided to get my supper to go in Siloam Springs and headed to the site of the former station. After about 10 minutes, I heard a southbound just as the car radio shut down. He is what showed up. |
These M420s were sitting ourside of the new locomotive shop of the A&M in Springdale, AR. |
Speaking of the new shop, here it is. |
