The above photos were taken by Ken McElreath in the summer of 1964 or 1965. He was flying a Piper L-4 Cub with a top speed of 85 mph. To keep close to the train he cut straight across the curves. Finally the train started to slow for the station stop at North Cairo, IL and he was able to take these photos. Note the E7 in the lead with a E8 or E9 B-un it and A-unit assisting. Also note the round end observation car at the end. |
