When I arrived at Stillwell, OK, I positioned myself in about the middle of the passing siding. I notice that the southbound CTC signals were red, and I suspected that there would be a meet. Soon I heard this northbound approaching out of sight. I then saw it take siding and note that the second unit was a "Retro Belle".. |
Meanwhile the unit coal train is slowly pulling down the main. |
The locos of the two trains are now seen approaching each other. |
I then jump into my car and head north to shoot the mid-train DPUs. |
I then catch the northbound past the north end of the passing track as it accelerates. |
As I turned west onto State 51 off US59 in Stilwell, OK, I heard the CTC dusoatcher set up a meet at Stilwell. I turned around and headed for the south parking lot of the KCS station there. The first train was a northbound with a TFM unit leading 2 KCS units which took the siding and pulled up to the State 59 east crossing. |
The northbound is now stopped at the State 51 east crossing waiting for the southbound dodger (KCS name for local). The gates are up so the traffic is crossing in front of the stopped train. |
After the meet, the northbound freight then proceeded. Note that the mainline signal is now lit. The last shot was taken through the windshield as the train reached the signals, sorry for the bug splatter. |
After a brief stay, the scanner reported a train at a nearby defect detector. The first to appear was this southbound led by a TFM unit. As soon as this train blocked my view of the mainline, an empty unit coal train passes. |
After we crossed the Red River and entered Texas, I spotted a private road to a ranch in Bowie County, TX that crossed the track near US 71 where I got these views. |
This train sitting on the main line in Mablevale, AR., down the main from our stop at the "One Track Mind" hobby shop. It is being helt out of the yard in North Little Rock. Note that the lead locomotive is form TFM, the Mexican subsidary of the KCS. |
The following KCS units were found in the NS Forrest Yard in Memphis. |
