MU - units equipped with multiple unit control
DB - units equipped with dynamic brakes
SG - units equipped with steam generators. The EA7s were equipped with
a single 3000 lbs/hour generator. The E8As were equipped with two 2500 lbs/hour
generators. The FP7s and GP7s so equipped had single 2500 lbs/hour generators.
Many of the GP7s had the steam generator removed and replaced with concrete
blocks for ballast.
Oddities:
a. Some GP38-2s rode on Blomberg Type B trucks from trade-ins. Among those
are: 418, 419, 422, 424, 425, 463,-466, 468, 469, 471-473, 476-478, 664, 666,
669, 671-673, 677, 692-695, and 698-699.
b. GP7s 546, 547, and 564 were lettered Quanah Acme & Pacific on the long
hood with SL-SF lettering under the number on the cab.
b. Road switchers GP38 #651 and SD45s 911, 912, and 915 carried a coonskin hearld
on the nose. GP38 651 was destroyed soon after application, making photos of
it rare.
c. GP35s 726-731 rode on AAR Type B trucks from ALCO trade-ins.
