A little outside of the normal area for these page, here we see MP GP7 #4213 on the AC local glides past theFt. Smith, Subiaco, and Rock Island 4-6-0 #2522 awaiting its next assignment (last assignment was in 1948). This locomotive was never returned to service but was later moved to the City Park in Paris for display, 8/8/60. |

This Ektachrome of MP RS11 #4605 and sisters has stopped just west of 4th Street on the mainline in this spring 1961 faded image. The RS11s did not make many trips through Van Buren in pure sets before they became trailing units. Later they were down graded to yard duty after being re-engined in North Little Rock with EMD prime movers. |

MP GP7 #4169 leads four ALCos as it takes the main line leg of the wye at Greenwood Jct., OK on its northbound journey, 6/21/61. Note that the lead unit is in the then new Jenks Blue paint scheme. It is believed that #4169 was the first unit painted in this new scheme and has only 1 stripe on the nose. The scheme later standardized on 2 stripes. |
