Burlington Northern Santa Fe
SD40-2s

This is the hump job pulling a string of cars from the Receiving Yard. Note the definite grade toward the hump, a rare downhill hump which once required brake-sleds made from steam locomotive tenders. These sleds were used with FM H1244s. As business increased H1244s were used in pairs on the hump. The Frisco then bought 2 SD38-2s with dynamics for this hump. The more normal hump in Memphis got 2 SD38-2s without dynamics.

Jan had a committee meeting in downtown Tulsa. I dropped her off and headed for Cherokee Yard in West Tulsa. This trimmer set was my first action on March 31, 2012.

Next up was this trimmer set in Cherokee Yard in Tulsa on Sept. 12, 2012.
This switcher set is seen northbound as a westbound intermodal train from the Cherokee Sub heading for the Avard Sub.
This trimmer set then couples to those tank cars which it brought to the yard a little earlier.

The next movement was a trimmer set pulling out the north end and then backing into the yard.

This transfer run is on its way to the yard at Union Depot for interchange to the Sand Spring and Union Pacific.

A trimmer set of power heads out the west leg of the wye with a cut of car which caused the power heading to the engine terminal to stop and wait.

The first train I get was the transfer returning from Owasso and the Watco yard there.

This pair of locomotives is returning from switching the industries along the Avard Sub, including the refinery on March 31, 2012.

These 4 SD40s are seen leaving the Cherokee classification yard. It then meets the westbound intermodal for the west coacst on Sept. 13, 2012.

The next movement was this pair of units heading out behind the stack train on the Avard Sub to make a delivery on March 5, 2013.

Our first trimmer set is now seen working a train in the classification yard.

While the Log Beach to Memphis train is still passing, a set of trimmer engines pulls up on the parallel track.

These trimmer units are working the yard out the southwest leg of the wye of Cherokee Yard in West Tulsa on July 16, 2011.

Another transfer job was seen leaving Cherokee Yard.

Then this trimmer appeared with a long string of cars before pushing them back into the yard.

The next action was the local switcher making a delivery to the UP connection at Union Depot. We first see the switchman lining the crossover for the BNSF to enter the UP (former MKT) connection.

This pair of locomotives is seen again without their cars.
