WSOR Passenger Special
Mid-Continent Fund Raiser
by Mike Condren

On June 15, 2007, WSOR operated a 4 car passenger train behind their 2 E-units. This train ran from Madison to the Mid-Continent Museum at North Freedom, WI carrying major supporters of the musuem. The chase began at the Commercial St. crossing at the east end of the Johnson Street Yard.

Due to slow orders, I was able to arrive at the station in Waunakee well before the train allowing me to shoot this image.

The train finally arrived at an increased speed.

The special was now traveling faster, making it impossible for me to get the shot that I originally wanted, Plan A. I then decided to shoot a broadside, Plan B, showing both wig-wags but the milk truck got in the way. Plan C was to go into multiple shot mode and create a stop-action video.

Lighting was less than ideal for all of the chase but was not too bad here at the Highway 113 crossing just east of Lodi.

This scene along the shore of Lake Wisconsin is a good example of the poor lighting, back lit and the dark side of the train.

The special finally arrived and crossed the bridge over Lake Wisconsin.
