While evacuated from New Orleans because of Hurricane Gustav, we had a cookout at Peabody Park because it was next to train tracks and had a water park on Sept. 2, 2008.

The Condren's Home 2009

Shawn and Virginia joined Matt, Jan, and Mike for Christmas
Shawn got his own personal computer with a mouse, his orange scarf, and a white scarf for his Lovey.

There is something about boys from NOLA and vacuum cleaners. This battery powered model was one of Shawn's favorite gifts.

A favorite gift was Shawn's own digital camera, seen here with his mother and Uncle Matt. Shawn asked Santa for the orange scarf.

On their first trip to visit us in Oklahoma, Virginia and Shawn have just arrived in Tulsa after flying from New Orleans via Atlanta. Grandma is seen buckling Shawn into his new booster seat.

In Tahlequah on Saturday night, the church was hosting a Halloween Party and Shawn and Virginia are in their costums for the Party.

We then excused ourselves and went to the playground of the church.

We then headed to Patron's Mexican Grill for lunch. Here we see Virginia and Shawn watching the machine make tortillas.

On July 24 Shawn and friends celebrated his 5th birthday with a party at Monkeyland. Miss Lacy baked and decorated a spectacular cake for the celebration as seen in the image to the right. The image below shows Shawn when he first spotted the cake up close.

There is nothing better than a boy and his dog. Shawn is seen here walking his dog, Reggie, in Metairie, LA. Reggie loved his time outside so he gave his owner some "puppy kisses".

June 4. 2011

On Saturday, we visited the Shreveport science museum where we see Shawn and his mother have fun.

Here we see them working the "lock" to let a plastic boat pass from the upper chamber to the lower chamber.

Next we see Virginia taking a "nap" on a bed of nails while Shawn watches.
When Virginia pressed BOTH red buttons, the plastic dropped away leaving her resting on the bed of nails.

Next Shawn and his mother raced tennis balls on parallel paths, one "hill and dale", the other a straight gentle slope. His mother's ball won!

Next Shawn and his mother rode the "Pump Yourself Up" followed by Shawn riding all the way up by himself.

Next was Grandpa's favorite, "Build an Atom". We see Shawn build a helium atom with help from his mother using puff balls for protons and neutrons, beads for electrons, a pipe cleaner for the Bohr orbit, and a hot glue gun to stick it all together.

Next Shawn's mother had her head served on a platter.

We headed to Shreveport to meet Shawn's mother for the weekend. On the way we stopped at the "Southern Belle" restaurant for lunch. The waitresses had engineers hats on so Shawn had to have Grandma go get his out of the car. He proudly wore it during lunch.

We spent one day and night at Tenkiller State Park on Tenkiller Lake about 30 miles south of Tahlequah. Here we see Shawn in the playground.

In the Nature Center we discovered this Barred Owl near the playground. In driving around we saw a deer with her two young. They escaped into the woods before I could get a photo.

While Shawn and Jan were at one of the playgrounds in town, I went to the church to pick up a "Thomas the Tank Engine" layout, extra track, and accessories which the church had declared surplus. Here we see Shawn when he first sees the stuff in the living room of our home.
