After lunch, retired NS employee and I went to Kentucky Street in Memphis and got a west/north bound taconite train.

I got this westbound NS freight at White Station Road in Memphis.

On a trip to Ft. Smith, I stopped by the yard in Van Buren and shot this eastbound UP train at the South 28th Street refueling station.

With time to kill before lunch with a friend, I decided to stop by Creekmore Park and the steam train facilities.
A couple of shots through the windows of the engine house at the steam engine #999.

Here we see the station. The fueling facility has been moved to the south end of the station.

Here we see the lead to the steam engine house and the water tank.

Here is the original engine house and fenced coach yard.

After I left the park, I drove to the A&M (former Frisco) yard. I decided to document the crossings of the KCS on the west side of the yard. The first picture is of the crossing of the KCS from the yard to their track that once served the cotton compress. This track then crossed the Ft. Smith Railroad (former MP) just after crossing Ballman Road which parallels the A&M yard and Ft. Smith Railroad line toward Van Buren. See satellite view below.

Ft. Smith has constructed this bus transfer station near the location of the "first KCS station" and near the location of the KCS "bus station" and office of the 1960s.

Here we see the OK Feed Mill trackmobile switching the mill in Ft. Smith. OK Food has recently been sold to a Mexican firm to supply food to Mexico.

Next, I discovered the Ft. Smith Railroad switcher returning from a trip to south Ft. Smith and Zero Mountain cold storage and Mac Steel as it crossed Wheeler Ave while it approached SF Jct. on the former Missouri Pacific, nee Arkansas Central trackage.

I then decided to document the crossing of the KCS wye tail and the A&M (former Frisco) line, mistakenly labeled KCS. The signal once govered the crossing.

On my way to a NRHS meeting in Springdale, AR, I ran into this loaded unit coal train just south of Watts, OK.

I got to Springdale and the A&M's new locomotive shop at the last glimmer of light for this shot.

On my way to get some supper before the NRHS meeting, I heard and then saw this switcher returning to the A&M headquarters.

Upon returning from a trip to Van Buren, I discovered a meet at Stilwell between a southbounf BNSF coal train and a KCS northbound general freight. Unfortunately, the only way I could shoot the meet and the BNSF train was through the windshield.
As usual the mid-train DPUs were KCS units.
The rear DPU was a BNSF unit.

The northbound KCS freight then headed out.

On my visit to Memphis, I attended a meeting of the Memphis Chapter of the NRHS in the meeting room of the Memphis Railroad and Trolley Museum in Central Station. We first visited the baggage room hallway and then the exhibits area of this underdevelopment museum.

There was a train meet in Springdale. This live steam train was only one of several layouts operational at the meet.

After the train meet I drove over to the A&M to see what was there. This set of power was parked at the station.

Here are a couple of images of the new locomotive shop building.

Several engines were parked around the shop area.

On my way back home to Tahleqauh, I found this engine parked in the KCS yard in Watts, OK.
