| We caught a couple of eastbound trains at the junction between Hershey and Sutherland, NE, one a loaded coal train on the line north and a grain train on the main line. |

| Our next train was a westbound local near Sutherland, NE. |

| Our last train on the UP main line along side of US 30 was near Ogallala, NE before we turned north into the Sand Hills. |

| We spent the night near Mt. Rushmore in a town called Hill City, SD. One of its claims to fame is the Black Hills Central steam train. We did not get up early enough to catch the first train and missed the second also. But I got a shot of one steamer smoking before we headed to Mt. Rushmore for the morning light. |

| Back in Hill City, SD, we stopped at the Black Hills Central and found a few things to shoot. |

| We spent the night at Columbus, MT. On our way out of town, we shot this station along the Montana Rail Link main line. |

| This is the former NP station at Red Lodge, MT. When we left Billings after our car was repaired, this town was under threat of range fire. |
