This series of page covers a trip to Wisconsin. This page began as a single page but the second day of the trip was so successful that I have divided the single page into 3 parts. Part 1 is below and covers the journey north to Rochelle and a couple h ours on Saturday. Part 2 covers the next day, Sunday Feb. 28. Part 3 covers the return trip to Memphis with some time in St. Louis.

2/27/10
Victoria, AR

This 2-6-0 was first owned by the Jonesboro, Lake City & Eastern #73. The Frisco bought the JLC&E and its locomotives. In addition to #73, 2-8-0s #76 and #77 still exist. This engine was bought by the Delta Valley & Southern, who put it on display when it was retired. This engine and cars are displayed on a short stretch of track in Victoria, AR a short distance from I55.

This tank car has no visible markings.

This box car has no visible markings, but it appears to be an ex-Frisco USRA single-sheath car rebulit with steel sides.

Thiscaboose has no visible markings.

Rochelle, IL

On our way to Rochelle, we saw a southbound BNSF train at Blytheville, AR, a southbound BNSF loaded unit coal train at Arnold, MO, and an eastbound loaded BNSF unit coal train at Mendota, IL. We just missed a BNSF freight at Steward, IL and finally a westbound stack train on the UP at Rochelle, IL.

Our first train at Rochelle was this loaded unit coal train.

The scanner alerted me to a stack train which had a signal to depart. It had 3 units on the point but only 1 was working. As it slowly passed by my position, I heard a rapidly moving train on the far track blow for the crossing just west of Railfan Park. I tried to shoot it through gaps between containers.

When we went to the HI Express in Rochelle to check in, the Wienermobile was parked in the lot. It left the next morning as we were preparing to go to church.

Now to Part 2
