Upon arriving at Memphis Central Station to pick up daughter and grandson, we discovered this unit at idle. I only had my cell phone camera, thus the low res pictures, but I had never seen a loco without train in the station before.

An ALCo switcher is on display behind the museum painted in a scheme similar to the Muskogee Roads scheme for diesels. However, the Muskogee Roads never owned an ALCo diesel, the paint scheme used on the only Muskogee Road diesel switcher did not have the white outline, nor did it come to a point in the front. This unit came from Fort Howard Paper S2 63-138, donated to Three Rivers Museum and placed on display, October 22, 2002. Originally Northern Pacific Terminal (Portland Terminal after 1965) 38.

Upon arriving at Tennessee Yard, this NS train was departing.

A couple of views of the north end of the intermodal terminal, showing the spare wheel sets and chassis storage.

The following sequence shows a production crane picking up a container, sitting it down on a chassis and a mule pulling the chassis to storage.

The next operation was taking a container from a chassis and placing it as the top layer of a well car.

Another container from chassis to train. The chassis is seen in the foreground in the next to the last shot.

Back now to unloading a container from a well car and placing it on a chassis.

Again unloading a well car, this time with a 20' container.

The action then shifts to Kentucky Street where we see a UP switcher on its way to the west side of the Mississippi River to a chemical plant which is on a track which leaves the main at Bridge Jct.

Next was this unit coal train on BNSF track 2.

Next was this NS train on BNSF track 1 going to the CN.

Earlier in the afternoon I had heard a train coming off the bridge. It never appeared until now, having waited at the crossovers to my west. When it appeared it was one of the longest stack trains that I have seen going to the CSX. About the time it gets to CN Jct., the UP switcher starts moving, giving 3 moving reains in the shot.

The switcher now crosses over the BNSF to take the President's Island lead as the CSX intermodal continues on toward Leewood Yard.
