This installment of Recent Trains will cover a two week period of heavy travel for Jan and me. First is a trip to Chicago for me to attend the Spring National Meeting of the American Chemical Society and for Jan to shop in downtown Chicago. This will be followed by our Spring Break circle trip south to check on and visit with family. This is part 2 , covering our time in the Rochelle, IL area.

On arrival in Rochelle, IL on 4/6/07, these switchers were tied up at Steam Plant Road.

On arrival at the Railroad Park, the signals indicated a westbound train on the BNSF.

The last train of the day was this eastbound UP train passing Global III.

The first train on 4/7/07 was this 7 unit consist headed east before sun rise.

This is the other side of this GP39 at Rochelle, IL.

BNSFGP38-2 #2272 at Rochelle, IL is ex-Frisco.

The cars at the oil terminal show a history of paint schemes on diesel fuel cars ranging from ATSF-newest BNSF.

This eastbound UP freight is passing the Railroad Park on 4/7/07.

A new SD70ACe heads up this westbound stack train as it passes the Railroad Park.

This westbound empty coal train was interesting for several reasons. First, it is running on the passing track. Second, the seond unit is a Ferromex GE with radial trucks. And last, but not least, there were three former Frisco red hoppers in the train.

This freight entered the siding to make a setout at the east end of Rochelle.

This 7 unit consist is seen passing the former C&NW satation at Rochelle.

This eastbound BNSF stack train is seen passing the Railroad Park.

This eastbound UP stack train is coming out of Global III.

The second unit in this consist has been tagged and then patched.

The second unit in this consist was in the red warbonnet paint scheme.

This freight has finished making its setouts and is now heading west again.

The second unit in the consist for this eastbound loaded coal train is a patched SP AC4400.

One train passes another alongside Global III. The second train takes a cut of mechanical refers to the interchange track for the Rochelle Railroad at the east end of town after the first train passes.

This stack train bypasses Global III and keeps on rolling through Rochelle as viewed from the new overpass west of town.

Here we see the power returning from the Rochelle Railroad connection.

A westbound stack train meets an eastbound transfer from Global III to Chicago.

The general merchandize train continues east past the Railroad Park.

This general merchandize freight is westbound past Railroad Park with a green signal across the BNSF crossing.

At Davis Jct. we found these two ICE GP40s sitting on the NE leg of the wye.
