A day of railfanning in Wisconsin

Amtrak train #8, the "Empire Builder", is seen arriving at the station at Columbus, WI

Upon arriving at North Fond du Lac, this set of engines was switching the main yard at the yard office.

This WC unit with CN lettering was sitting south of the tower.

This udo are kicking cars into the main yard.

The duo is dragging a string of cars past the yard office and tower that still shows the Wisconsin Central Limited awning is still in place.

CN 4000 was working the south yard at Shops.

The two switch jobs meet at the tower.

WC SD40-2 #6002 sits in the engine terminal at Shops.

CN SD75I #5675 is headed north as Highway N.

CN SD40-2 #5294 leads a northbound freight while it puts its train together.

While the northbound was putting its train together, a southbound on the "Valley Line" had pulled down to the "holding signal", awaiting its turn in the yard. This 3-unit consist was the only one containing the WC "standard" SD45.

A pair of NS units dropped off a train in the yard and are heading to the engine terminal.

The power off the "Valley Line" train is headed to the engine terminal.

Before leaving Fond du Lac, we headed to Scott Street where I spotted a southbound with a WC in the lead. I applied the 5 minute rule.

CN 5371 appears on a northbound within the 5 minutes crossing Scott Street to enter the yard.

As soon as the northbound clears, the southbound with WC 2005 and CN-IC 6134 head south and we head for Byron Hill..

About the time I heard the southbound blowing for Highway 175 at Byron, I hear a northbound blowing for a crossing south of where I was at Highway Y. The northbound took the siding at Quad Graphics for the meet.
