March 17, 2015: Happy Saint Patrick's Day

The Chicago River has been stained green for Saint Patrick's Day. This grab shot was from the Michigan Ave bridge over the river.

This CTA train passed over the street while I was waiting for the light to turn green.

This CTA 5046 is seen on the loop passing over Orleans St.

This CTA train is on the Lake St line heading to the loop.

Sturtevant, WI

This is the new station at Sturtevant, WI.

This Amtrak train is seen arriving at the station at Sturtevant, WI.

The next train was this southbound Amtrak approaching from Milwaukee.

This northbound local is seen near Kenosha, WI.

This Trackmobile was working a plant across the road from the coal fired power plant SW of Kenosha, WI.

These UP GEs are used to power the unit coal trains that supply the power plant in the above photo.

Upon returning to Sturtevant station, I catch this north bound from inside the west tower of the crossover due to the cold wind. Sorry for the glare on the window glass.

I caught this CP freight from platform level at the Sturtevant station. This train used the crossover at the former station site for its meet with the "Empire Builder".

I caught the next train from the west tower of the crossover. Note that the train is running on the east track for a meet with the "Empire Builder" on the west track.

The "Empire Builder" meets the Milwaukee to Chicago train between the old station site and the current Sturtevant station.

The next northbound Amtrak was on the normal east track.

Several members of the Tuesday Night Slide Group gathered at the Culver's on WI-20 at I-94 west of Sturtevant.
