These views of Central Station in Memphis show the area where the stub tracks once were located.

A BNSF train is seen on Broadway from the Central Station platform.

Amtrak #59 "City of New Orleans" arrives in Memphis about 3 hours late on Aug. 3, 2006 due to the "Texas Eagle" arriving in Chicago 6 hr and 56 minutes late.

Because we were running so late, our family picked us up at Hammond, LA.

Shawn's first train chase with Grandpa and Momma in NOLA on August 5, 2006 at 11 days.

NS 8995 is seen at the east end of the Huey P. Long Bridge in suburban New Orleans, Aug. 5, 2006.

Amtrak equipment sits in the New Orleans Passenger Terminal on Aug. 6, 2006. The equipment for the "City of New Orleans" sits on track 6 awaiting its departure.

On my last two trips on the northbound "City of New Orleans", we have waited in the hole for the southbound at the end of one of the runways of Louis Armstrong airport. While stopped both times, we were treated to an airliner landing up close and personal on Aug. 6, 2006..

As viewed from Amtrak's "City of New Orleans" is the city of New Orleans across Lake Ponchatrain.

The dome of the Mississippi State Capital in Jackson as seen from the City of New Orleans.

The reamins of the IC roundhouse and turntable in Jackson, MS.

Departure from Alma, AR at 6:00am on Aug. 9, 2006 meant that I arrived at Springdale and the Arkansas and Missouri headquarters at dawn. The Monett turn (top photo) has just arrived with its usual long string of ALCos, 8 in this case. The middle photo shows one of the ex-BRC C424 in new paint. The bottom photo shows one of the A&M T6s.

The A&M remodeled the south end of a wharehouse as their headquarters and built from scratch a passenger station across the street. They continue to use the yard office building built by the Frisco after they tore down their brick combination passenger-freight station. That yard office once served as all of the above for A&M when they started their operation in 1986.

The BNSF switcher is switching the interchange with the UP along side the UP main west of the BNSF diamond.

A UP freight prepares to set out some mechanical refers for the Rochelle Railroad. While they were testing the hand brakes to see if they could hold the train on the grade, a loaded coal train approaches and passes.

Another eastbound loaded coal train passes Global III at Rochelle, IL, 6/9/06.

A trio of light engines is westbound at Rochelle, IL , 8/9/06. As they pass Global III, they meet yet another eastbound loaded coal train.

Here we see the view from the new overpass west of Global III at Rochelle, IL, 8/9/06. In this view there are three moving trains. A power set is dragging a string of well cars from Global III while a loaded coal train heads east. In the distance, a headlight can be seen of a westbound general merchandize freight.

UPY GP15-1 #635 and UP SD40-2 #3236 work hard dragging a string of well cars.

Here the third moving train comes on stage. Too bad the fourth track did not have a moving train.

That eastbound coal train stopped parallel to Global III as the light is fadding, 8/9/06.

The first train of this gloomy 8/10/06 was this stack train led by UP #5451.

Under the shelter of the pavillion, we viewed this eastbound BNSF freight in heavy rain, 8/10/06.

Ex-C&NW SD40-2 like UP 3087 seen here are used to lead Global III to Proviso shuttles, 8/10/06.

BNSF SD40-2 #6317 leads a general merchandize freight westbound past the Railroad Park in Rochelle, IL, 8/10/06.
