Railfanning on this day began at a HO scale layout of the KCS 3rd Sub located in Coweta, OK. Here we see an excellant model of the Sallisaw, OK station. This layout is set in Spring 1982.

The railroad is dispatched from this panel.

Crews can follow the action by looking at this projected list of trains and locations.

Here we see a pair of KCS GP30s on the Ft Smith "Dodger" led by #4103 exiting the Jensen, AR tunnel on the former Frisco line to Paris TX. For more photos of this layout, go to its web site at kcs3.webs.com.

I caught a real Heavener bound Ft Smith Dodger at the Jensen Tunnel in this image.

The weather turns "iffy" so I left the operating session early for my drive back to Tahlequah.

The snow had stopped by the time I got to Wagoner, so I headed to the "Hot Spot" for a 10 minute test for a possible train. At 9 min I heard the horn of this southbound freight on the former MKT line.

On my way to the monthly meeting of the Boston Mtn Chapter NRHS, I caught this SB unit coal train at the south end of the Watts, OK yard.

A NB KCS freight was leaving the yard as I passed through town. I caught it at the Illinois River bridge just north of town.

On our way to New Orleans, we stopped for gas at Eufaula, OK. While stopped this UP SB freight caught up with us.

Our next stop was at Hugo, OK to shoot the former Frisco depot and Harvey House which served 2 routes through town. The east west route was from Hope, AR to Ardmore, OK. The north south route was from Monett, MO to Paris, TX. The Harvey giles lived upstairs in dorm like rooms. It is a musuem. Years ago I toured the depot/musesum, including the upstairs.

This former KCS slug was on display outside the Hugo station along with a former Frisco baggage car.

We then caught these units in the engine terminal of the Kiamichi.

On Saturday, we visited the WWII Museum. After leaving there, I drove over and down Canal Street where we saw this street car.

On our trip back to Tahlequah, we took I-49 to Texarkana on a stretch that was recently opened. We caught this KCS switcher south of Ashdown, AR. We did not find any locos on the Kiamichi, former Frisco line to Hope, AR.

After visiting with friend Jim Christenberry (Flagman Berry) at Vandervoort, AR, we caught at Rich Mtn. the NB KCS freight we had seen before our visit.

In Heavener, OK We discovered this train leaving the yard SB.

These photos were taken in Muskogee, OK as part of a trip to replace our home phone. These engines were all sitting in the engine service area of the UP railroad, former MKT.
