Discovery Park of America is a new tourist attraction in Union City, TN. We were in Union City for the funeral of Jan's last aunt.

Feb. 13, 2014

On our return trip to OK, we passed through Hoxie, AR where we caught this stack train at the crossing of the BNSF by the UP.

This former service station is across the highway from the crossing where I took the previous photos.

This BNSF is detouring on the UP in Van Buren, AR. It has stopped at the east end of the yard to change crews before being refueled.

This unit is the DPU of a loaded coal train at the fueling station near the Main Street crossing.

These A&M units are inside the Arkola Sand and Gravel sand plant at the river edge in Van Buren.

After refueling its DPU at South 28th Street crossing, the head end is seen approaching the location of the former passenger station.

The BNSF train is then seen approaching the refueling station at the Main Street crossing. The Crawford County Court House and former jail are seen above the second unit of the BNSF train.

The head end of the loaded coal train was still buried in the yard so I shot it through a gap in the trees.

This train was awaiting its turn into the yard at South 28th Street.

Upon arriving in Springdale, I caught the switcher returning from its work south of town at the US 412 crossing.

These units appear to be awaiting sale or lease.

These units were sitting at the fuel station outside of the new main shop along side of the mainline.

The switcher is later seen passing the station and the passenger cars parked at it.

On my way to the NWA Train Show, I caught this empty unit coal train just south of Watt, OK.

The empty NB unit coal train met a SB at Watts, OK. I could only get a shot through the windshield while driving.

These units were parked outside of the main shop building.

These images were taken at the NWA Train Show. This model of a Midland Valley GP7M was worth a photo.

One of the goals for the day was to meet with my former student from my The College of the Ozarks days, Reba Bailey and her family, including her grandson Dyer, a lover of trains. Her husband and son Mark were also in attendance.
Reba, Dyer, and Mike Mike, Dyer, and Mark
Mark bought his son Dyer a N-scale Akaskan Flyer.

On my way back to Tahlequah, I caught this loaded unit coal train at the "station" in Siloam Springs, AR.

Feb. 24, 2014

On our way to Van Buren, we discovered a loaded unit coal train headed south and an empty unit coal train headed north. We stopped at the station parking lot for these pictures of both of the DPUs.

March 17, 2014

This northbound freight stopped for refueling at the Main Street refueling station in Van Buren, AR on March 17, 2014.

This signal is located at the south end of the passing track in Van Buren. This retired chemistry professor shot it because it has had the incandescent bulb replaced by an LED bulb as indicated by the multiple small green light sources. LED bulbs last many times longer than incandescent bulbs and use 10% of the energy.

That "clear" signal was for this train seen leaving the passing track at the South 28th Street end of the Van Buren. AR yard.

On my way back along side of the yard, I spot the A&M units in the middle of the UP yard.

I then headed to the west end of the yard and caught the units heading back to their yard.

While waiting for the A&M units, I heard a train blowing for the Main Street crossing. Shortly it appeared.
