The IC Beale Street freight house is the long narrow structure in the left center of this aerial view from the 1950s. Linden Station appears to its right along the main line.

I was reading special instructions in IC Memphis Terminal ETT for 1947, and find the ollowing rule...

103(b).  In switching Linden Station, Poston Warehouse and Newport Rolling Mills, engine foreman must see that sufficient hand brakes are set before coupling to cars and that switching on these tracks performed with air coupled and working.

It would be nice to know exactly what (and where) Linden Station was...  my guess is some sort of private freight warehouse.
